Creation has two types of beings: Celestial and Terrestrial (1 Corinthians 15:39-40). God has a Heavenly family and an Earthly family. Three descriptive terms—nature, status, and function — define and distinguish God’s families.
Terrestrial Nature: nature is the properties that define the essence of a thing. Terrestrial beings are physical, mortal, dependent on physical resources, and subject to the laws of the physical cosmos – Ecclesiastes 3:20. All are going to the same place; all come from the dust, and all return to the dust.
Celestial Nature: nature is the properties that define the essence of a thing. Celestial beings are spiritual, mortal, dependent on spiritual resources, and subject to the laws of the spiritual world. Elohim (gods) by nature. Yahuah is elohim, but all elohim isn’t Yahuah. Elohim is the nature of a thing, as we see in Psalm 82:1.
Terrestrial status is the position or standing of a terrestrial entity in the earthly realm: Genesis 1:27-28. Humans are the pinnacle of terrestrial creation and are given dominion over the earth. Humans have the highest authority on earth but are still subject to serving God’s authority and will.
Celestial status: status is the position or standing of a celestial entity in the divine realm. Celestial beings serve God’s purposes in the celestial and terrestrial realms (Psalm 103:20-21). Celestial beings are responsible for fulfilling the commands of God.
Terrestrial function: function is a job description of a terrestrial entity. The function of God’s terrestrial children is to be image-bearers on the earth (Ephesians 4:23-24).
Celestial function: The function of the heavenly beings is to minister to God’s will and worship Him. In Revelation 4:8, we read that each of the four living creatures had six wings covered with eyes around and inside. Day and night, they never stop, saying, “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God, the Almighty, who was, who is, and who is to come.” God is eternal, like a circle: who was, who is, and who is to come. God has no beginning and no end.
These descriptions of nature, status, and function show that terrestrial and celestial beings are living entities. The beings in heaven are no less real than you and I. But like you and I, they aren’t eternal. We are both subject to the laws of our realms. Daniel 7:9-10 tells us the realm we both share. What realm do we both share (Revelation 4:2-11)? All God’s children exist in the Father’s Kingdom. God is the first and the last word in everything.
But everyone isn’t OK with this arrangement. Some beings want to be in charge and think they can do better than Almighty God at running the Cosmos. Those beings are participating in The rebellion of the fallen angels. In Psalm 103, we see some angels do the will of God, but not all the angels want to do the will of God. We see this in Revelation 12:7-9. Satan, going back to the Garden as the Serpent, rebelled against the will of God and had to be cast out of heaven. Jesus said in Luke 10:18 that he saw Satan fall from heaven like lightning. Satan, The Dragon, The Serpent, and his angels have been defeated.
As we draw this episode close, it’s crucial to remember that the cosmic conflict we’ve discussed is not just an abstract concept but a reality that affects our daily lives. Understanding the roles and distinctions between celestial and terrestrial beings gives us a deeper insight into God’s grand design and the ongoing battle between His will and the rebellion led by Satan. This knowledge equips us to better grasp the spiritual dynamics at play and the importance of aligning ourselves with God’s purposes. Moreover, it’s heartening to know that we are not alone in this struggle. Our celestial siblings, the angels who faithfully serve God, are there to support and protect us, as described in Psalm 91:11.
As we continue to explore these truths, let’s commit to staying vigilant and faithful, recognizing, as the Apostle Paul told the Ephesians, that our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Yet, we can take comfort in knowing that God’s faithful angels are with us, ministering to and helping us in our times of need. Keep studying, praying, and seeking God’s grace in your life. You can help in the battle against the rebellion of Satan and his angels by helping to get these studies out for more people to view and hear by liking and subscribing so others might benefit from this message.
